Smart Communications, Inc. maintained its lead in 5G roaming in 70 countries through its partnerships with a total of 118 key operators around the globe.

“With customer centricity as our guide, we continue to expand our 5G roaming coverage through our ever-growing list of international telco partners to empower our global customers with fast 5G data roaming speeds wherever they are in the world,” according to Chet Alviz, vice president, wireless core and international business group at Smart.

All Smart users with 5G SIMs and 5G-qualified devices can enjoy 5G roaming services in countries like Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Northern Mariana Islands, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, the United States of America, US Virgin Islands, Uzbekistan, the Vatican, Vietnam and Wales.

As of March 2023, PLDT has expanded its fiber footprint to more than 1.1 million kilometers, which consists of over 231,000 kilometers of international fiber and over 874,000 kilometers of domestic fiber.

This fiber infrastructure also supports Smart's 3G, 4G/LTE and 5G networks, which cover 97% of the Philippines' population as of the first quarter of 2023.
