Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized that China is ready to collaborate with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries in combating cross-border online gambling and telecom fraud during a meeting with diplomatic envoys from 10 ASEAN countries in Beijing.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the recent alarming incidents of online gambling and telecom fraud along the Thailand-Myanmar border that have posed a threat to the interests of citizens from China and other nations.

He emphasized the importance of addressing this issue promptly. Wang urged the countries involved to take responsibility and implement strong measures to decisively tackle these crimes, ensuring the safety and property of their people and preventing criminals from escaping punishment.
Additionally, Wang mentioned China's willingness to enhance cooperation with the law enforcement and security sectors of ASEAN countries—both bilaterally and multilaterally—to create a secure environment for people-to-people exchanges and promote harmonious cooperation among neighboring nations.
