Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) Group and Google Cloud have announced an expanded partnership to provide advanced cloud services in Indonesia in an effort to meet the country's strict data residency, security, and privacy requirements.
Under this partnership, Indosat Group will offer Google’s Distributed Cloud (GDC) to organizations in Indonesia, allowing them to run AI and data-intensive workloads at their preferred location.
This will benefit organizations in sectors such as defense, healthcare, finance, energy, and manufacturing by enhancing their digital transformation with top-notch AI and analytics capabilities while ensuring data protection.

Digitalization at Scale
GDC is a fully managed solution with various software services and hardware options, including the ability to run disconnected from the public internet for sensitive workloads or connected to the Google Cloud within Indonesia.
Indosat Group will also provide hosting options for GDC on-premises, ensuring data control and compliance with local regulations.

The goal is to deliver the country's first sovereign cloud and edge cloud solutions to empower organizations with the infrastructure and tools needed for digitalization at scale.

Through GDC, organizations can access Vertex AI features for developing and deploying advanced ML and AI applications, including pre-trained models for speech-to-text, translation, and OCR in over 100 languages.
They can also utilize Google Cloud resources like GKE, NVIDIA GPUs, AlloyDB Omni database engine, and Dataproc for data analytics.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the importance of meeting Indonesia's data sovereignty and regulatory requirements. The partnership with Indosat Group is designed to offer local sovereign cloud solutions tailored for the public sector and regulated organizations, enabling them to accelerate digital transformation on their own terms.
