Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) have forged a new collaboration agreement aimed at bolstering security for Malaysia’s 5G network against potential cyber threats.
The newly formed partnership aims to establish comprehensive 5G security guidelines, which are essential for the telecommunications sector, and will serve as a benchmark for future security protocols in 5G networks.
Under the collaboration agreement, DNB and CSM will establish a National 5G Cybersecurity Testing Centre to facilitate vulnerability assessments, compliance with standards, and validation of security protocols for industry stakeholders.
Furthermore, the partnership includes sharing threat intelligence and enhancing the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities to effectively counter emerging cyber threats.

Securing Innovation
Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo, attended the formalization of the collaboration at DNB’s My5G Portal Experience Center. During the event, he praised the initiatives that have been implemented to strengthen cybersecurity for Malaysia’s 5G network. He emphasized that the 5G network forms part of Malaysia’s Critical National Information Infrastructure sectors and effects national defense, economic stability, governmental operations, and social norms.
In today’s increasingly digital world, the digital space has become essential in daily life, fostering innovation, economic growth, and societal advancement. However, he noted, these advancements bring considerable challenges, particularly in cybersecurity.
“Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that necessitates the pooling of resources, intelligence, and expertise. By strengthening alliances and partnerships, we can enhance our collective ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats,” said Deo.

DNB Chief Operating Officer, Nasution bin Mohamed, highlighted the critical need to secure Malaysia’s 5G network through the establishment of a robust cybersecurity ecosystem.
He stressed the significance of DNB’s partnership with CyberSecurity Malaysia in the context of accelerating digitalization across various sectors, underscoring the collaborative effort as pivotal. Mohamed also expressed enthusiasm about teaming up with CSM and other entities to strengthen Malaysia’s national 5G cybersecurity framework, emphasizing the collaboration's role in fostering a secure and resilient network.
CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO, Dato' Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab, underscored the significance of the initiative, emphasizing the creation of specialized facilities aimed at testing and enhancing cybersecurity protocols for Malaysia’s National 5G networks. He is confident that the collaboration will lead to the development of rigorous security standards, the establishment of a dedicated testing center, and the exchange of vital threat intelligence among cybersecurity experts. He said that these efforts are crucial for safeguarding the digital future of 5G networks in Malaysia.
