SoftBank Corp. and Nokia Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advanced communication technologies.
The agreement focuses on creating an AI-powered communication system, including AI-RAN (Artificial Intelligence Radio Access Network) and 6G technology. The partnership will utilize Nokia's Cloud RAN platform to develop AI-RAN and will involve field testing with centimeter waves, anticipated for future 6G applications.

The next-generation communication system, powered by AI-RAN and 6G, is set to transform societies and economies by offering faster, more flexible connectivity over wider ranges. According to the agreement, SoftBank will leverage its extensive experience as a network operator, while Nokia will bring its global expertise in network technologies to jointly advance 6G network research and development (R&D).
