Gary Tay appointed director for Tripleplay Asia

Leading developer of Digital Signage, IPTV and Video Streaming solutions, Tripleplay has appointed former Extron consultant liaison manager, Gary Tay to head up its Asian business based from its regional headquarters in Singapore.

New Zealand telecommunications provider Spark said it’s planning to fully acquire small carrier TeamTalk in an effort to expand its provision of internet services across the nation, ZDNet reported. The small provider offers mobile radio services and metro fiber services under its brand CityLink and also rural internet services under its brand Farmside.

Finnish technology giants Nokia have disclosed the details of the signing of a distributor agreement with Energia Communications (EneCom) to sell its G.fast fixed ultra-broadband access technology in Japan. EneCom, Nokia’s first customer for next-generation broadband access technology in the country, will now become the reseller for the fixed access technology, making it available nationwide across Japan.

Yahoo Japan Corp., formed as a joint venture between the American internet company Yahoo! and the Japanese company SoftBank, saw its latest quarterly earnings jump the most since 2013. The company attributed the earnings to growth in advertising and online shopping via smartphones.

Japanese conglomerate Toshiba has received a number of healthy bids for a 19.9% stake in its lucrative flash memory business. It has received offers ranging from $1.8 billion to as high as $3.6 according to sources close to the organization.

Alibaba Group is extending its operations Down Under by launching a new base in Australia – as the company continues to expand its footprint overseas. The group opened a new office in Melbourne and that will serve to headquarters for its operations in both Australia and New Zealand.
