At the MWC Shanghai 2021, Bill Tang, President of Huawei Global Technical Service, launched the General Digital Engine (GDE) platform. The GDE adopts the "1+4+N" architecture: "1" refers to an open cloud-native platform; "4" means four capabilities that enable data sharing, intelligent production flow, capability sharing, and Integrated low-code self-development. The platform introduces digital and intelligent technologies into carriers' planning, construction, maintenance, optimization, and operation processes to help them transform to digital operations enabling carriers and partners to innovate "N" application scenarios.

This solution harnesses IMS data channel architecture and provides an enhanced voice experience with HD, visual, and interactive services. Singtel is launching 5G edge compute infrastructure for enterprises, that includes Microsoft Azure Stack as one of the options, to deliver fast and secure 5G applications. Enterprises will be able to use Singtel’s Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC) infrastructure to process applications like autonomous guided vehicles, drones, robots, virtual, augmented or mixed reality closer to their end-users. Combined with high speed connectivity from Singtel’s 5G network, enterprises will be able to deliver these applications with low latency of less than 10 milliseconds. Trials are set to begin this year.

Nokia announced that it has launched 5G services with mobile operator, Optus at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. The move provides visitors attending sporting or music events with access to incredibly fast indoor and outdoor 5G coverage with speeds over 1Gbps. Nokia has supported Optus with the deployment of the technology as well as its ambitious goals for 5G.
