As Vietnam’s national infrastructure continues to expand, global engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon has appointed Gabe Carter as General-Director and Country Manager of Vietnam effective 1st July.

In his new role, Gabe Carter will continue to drive market share growth and deliver strong financial performance for Aurecon’s local office. He will also be responsible for building the reputation of Aurecon inside Vietnam as well as developing operations at the company’s offshoring centre, which serves projects worldwide. Gabe will oversee both client-facing work and timely project deliveries while still being accountable for business and people management.

Gabe joined Aurecon in 2003, immediately after graduating from the University of New South Wales, Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. After rising through the ranks, he relocated to Vietnam in 2016 to take on the role of Built Environment Leader.

“Gabe is an Aurecon success story,” said Stephane Asselin, Managing Director for Asia, Aurecon. “His progress at the company underlines the experience and opportunity that are available to our fresh graduates hires and I’m sure his elevation to a leadership role will be an inspiration to many. His natural people skills, commitment to the Asia region, and considerable engineering talent make him the best person for this job. I am delighted to welcome Gabe into his new role and look forward to watching him steer our important Vietnam office to continued success.”

Gabe is a chartered member of the Institution of Engineers Australia with over 17 years of experience in the construction industry. He has been heavily involved in major projects throughout his career, assuming both leadership and technical roles.

Most recently, he served as Project Leader for Aurecon’s work on Vincom Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City – Southeast Asia’s tallest skyscraper. With bold vision and innovative design, Aurecon was able to help bring this 472-metre tower to life, reinforcing the company’s reputation as one of the world’s leading engineering consultants for supertall buildings.

“Over the past three years, it has been very exciting to work in Vietnam’s vibrant Built Environment sector,” said Gabe. “Developers and owners here are demanding innovative and cutting-edge solutions for their projects and this is developing a unique identity for Vietnam. I’m looking forward to continuing my work in the Built Environment sector, while simultaneously leading our Vietnam office to the highest levels of competence in both local and global workshare projects. At Aurecon, we are passionate about complex projects and finding the innovative solutions that will bring them to life, and I am very proud to share our approach with our clients and employees in Vietnam.”
