Super Retail Group, one of Australia's and New Zealand's major retailers, has partnered with Optus, a leading telecommunications operator, to deploy innovative 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology at its Queensland distribution facility after a successful trial period.

Super Retail Group intends to improve operational efficiency and provide seamless backup capabilities for its distribution facilities by employing the cutting-edge connectivity solution powered by Optus 5G and Cradlepoint. Supercheap Auto, Rebel, BCF and Macpac are among the primary brands owned by the retail giant.

Stuart Pritchard, vice president of enterprise and government at Optus, expressed the significance of the partnership, stating, “Super Retail Group needed a reliable network backup solution at its distribution facility to deliver the seamless support and backup it required. Optus’ 5G FWA solution provides high-speed internet access to protect the uptime of critical infrastructure and, in this case, SRG’s ability to stay connected when it matters most. This is fantastic news for the customers of SRG, since efficient and resilient networks are essential to ensuring timely, reliable order fulfillment.”

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) is a wireless communication technology that provides high-speed internet access and broadband connectivity in remote or rural places where traditional wired connections are difficult or expensive to construct.

Ray Birt, Super Retail Group's general manager of cyber, networks, infrastructure and service management, underlined the significance of reliable and robust connectivity for smooth operations and the protection of vital infrastructure at their distribution centers. "We were delighted with the high speed and reliability of Optus' enterprise-grade FWA connectivity," Mr. Birt said.

Nathan McGregor, senior vice president of Asia Pacific at Cradlepoint, highlighted the advantages of enterprise-grade FWA utilizing 5G technology, saying, "Enterprise-grade FWA leveraging 5G delivers the speeds of wired networks, but with the agility and resilience that enables enterprises to be more competitive. Optus and Cradlepoint have worked together to deliver this solution for the iconic Super Retail Group business, and FWA will enable enterprises in Australia to have agile connectivity options that will simplify digital transformation and support innovation."

Optus has integrated software-defined 5G FWA with enterprise-grade hardware to provide businesses with the chance to improve their operations and customer outcomes. This integrated solution enables businesses to optimize their procedures and effectively embrace digital transformation.
