Asian data center provider Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has signed a renewable energy contract with independent power producer Cikarang Listrindo (CL) to obtain power generated from biomass sources for its 30 MW data center campus in Cibitung, a district in West Java Province, Greater Jakarta.

This long-term contract will allow PDG to make significant progress towards digital decarbonization by initially powering up to 20% of its data center campus in Cibitung with renewable energy. Starting in August 2023, PDG's Greater Jakarta campus will begin using biomass-powered energy from CL's mixed fuel plant.

Earlier this year, PDG became the first data center operator to acquire biomass International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) from CL. PDG has been a strong advocate for renewable energy development in Indonesia. In 2020, PDG was the first corporate buyer of state-owned electricity firm PLN's RECs and has consistently procured these certificates as part of its sustainability strategy.

Most recently, PDG obtained geothermal energy in the form of RECs from PLN for three of its data centers in Jakarta, Bandung and Pekanbaru. With 21 data centers in six key markets, PDG is committed to its environmental strategy, which includes procuring renewable energy, improving energy and resource efficiency, implementing green design and construction practices, and embracing technology and innovation.

PDG is collaborating with leading renewable energy companies in the region to transition its portfolio of data centers from traditional power sources to low- or zero-carbon energy alternatives.
