Singtel announced that it is the first company in the world to implement a new 5G capability called Ericsson’s Automated Radio Resource Partitioning (ARRP). This software solution intelligently allocates network resources to meet the varying needs of enterprises and consumer applications, avoiding issues of over- or under-provisioning and ensuring network performance is not compromised.

ARRP simplifies network management for enterprise customers, especially for mission-critical applications with changing demands. ARRP was used at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 event as part of Singtel’s 5G Express Pass offering. This allowed subscribers to have priority network resources for livestreaming the race, sharing content on social media, and using ride-hailing services in a crowded environment with over 250,000 spectators.

Mr. Ng Tian Chong, CEO of Singtel Singapore, mentioned that with ARRP, businesses only need to specify their desired outcomes and the software takes care of the rest. This allows businesses to explore new use cases in dynamic environments without needing knowledge of network management. Ericsson’s Automated Radio Resource Partitioning solution helps Singtel define objectives for enterprise customers, ensuring superior network experiences.

Singtel and Ericsson have been working together to unlock new 5G technology features to help businesses improve operations and develop innovative applications. Since achieving nationwide 5G coverage in 2022, Singtel has introduced technologies like network slicing and the national quantum-safe network (QSN). The QSN, the first in Southeast Asia, allows enterprises to secure their communications and explore quantum technology before adoption.
