With less than a month to go until the Philippine SIM card registration deadline on July 25, PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and value brand TNT continue their efforts to encourage users to register their Smart and TNT SIMs and prevent SIM deactivation.
In the Davao Region, Smart collaborated with Sta. Ana and Agdao Multipurpose Cooperatives to make SIM registration more accessible to their members. Edna Villones, a Davao City resident, shared her registration experience, saying: "Registering my SIM was very smooth and fast. I’m glad that my SIM is now registered because I kept all my important contacts here, and I use it regularly to reach my loved ones."
Smart and TNT have been actively partnering with national agencies as well as different local government units to deploy thousands of assisted SIM registration booths across the country, particularly in remote or rural areas and far-flung municipalities, helping millions of customers register their SIMs in compliance with Republic Act (RA) 11934, or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Law. “Our commitment is to have no one left behind when it comes to SIM registration,” according to Cathy Yang, FVP and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.
Smart and TNT said they will keep on deploying more teams in Mindanao to provide customers with a convenient and seamless SIM registration experience, especially for the elderly, persons with disabilities and those using legacy phones.
Furthermore, Smart also partnered with The Generics Pharmacy in Davao to provide SIM registration assistance to patients availing of medical services during their Kaibigan sa Kalusugan Medical Caravan.
Both new and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT customers may also visit PLDT and Smart stores or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://www.smart.com.ph/simreg. Meanwhile, Smart postpaid users are considered registered using existing account details, in accordance with the SIM Registration Act.
