Telstra has partnered with SpaceX to become the world’s first telco to offer voice-only and voice-plus broadband powered by Starlink to rural and remote subscribers in Australia.
Vicki Brady, Telstra's CEO, said that the collaboration with Starlink matches Telstra's T25 strategy commitment to deliver a satellite product that will improve voice and broadband services for both consumer and corporate customers. Ms. Brady underscored Telstra's commitment to investing in new and improved connectivity choices, as well as the importance of engaging with the right partners in unlocking a digital future for people in rural and remote Australia.

Telstra has extensively tested and trialed low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology around the country in order to determine the best solutions for its clients. The addition of Telstra's voice service, as well as expert installation options and local support, distinguishes Telstra's offering from competitors. This thorough strategy ensures that clients have the best possible voice and broadband experience.
Furthermore, Telstra's clients will benefit from the deal with Starlink, which will provide business-grade choices with higher bandwidth in locations without fixed or mobile access. This increased connectivity will not only be advantageous to Australian customers but also to businesses operating overseas.
Pricing details are set to be announced in late 2023. Currently, Telstra delivers phone and broadband services in rural and remote Australia using a variety of technologies, such as nbn Fixed Wireless, its own mobile network, and older copper and radio networks. Starlink's satellite internet constellation will provide an extra connectivity option for consumers who live in places where existing networks suffer from distance and geographical problems.
