ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines has partnered with the country’s top universities to build a data center talent pool.

The collaboration with De La Salle University, the University of Santo Tomas and the National University marks a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of data center industry talent to strengthen the Philippines' position in the global digital landscape.

This partnership project between industry and academia aims to spark interest and appreciation for the data center industry among students, providing them with valuable real-world experience and a clear career pathway within this rapidly growing field.

"The key to securing the digital future of the Philippines lies in the hands of our youth. This partnership merges the academic expertise of our esteemed university partners with industry insights from STT GDC Philippines, offering an enriched learning journey for students and a fortified future for our nation's digital revolution,” noted the President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines, Carlo Malana.

The objectives of this collaboration include enhancing awareness of the data center industry, integrating industry-relevant content into engineering curricula and providing practical, hands-on internship programs. Moreover, joint projects focused on energy efficiency, cooling technologies and security systems will drive research and innovation to tackle industry challenges head-on.

STT GDC Philippines also plans to scale up the program by encouraging more universities and training institutions to participate, creating a strong talent pipeline for the country's data center industry.

STT GDC Philippines, together with these top universities, shows a firm commitment to cultivating local talent and fostering innovation in the data center industry. By closing the gap between academia and industry, this initiative aims to keep the Philippines at the forefront of digital growth and transformation.

STT GDC Philippines recently broke ground on the nation’s largest and most interconnected carrier-neutral data center, STT Fairview. This facility places sustainability at the forefront, incorporating carbon reductions, Artificial Intelligence (AI), liquid-cooling readiness and a commitment to carbon-neutral operations by 2030.

The Philippine digital industry stands to benefit significantly from this initiative, which is projected to grow at a compound annual rate (CAGR) of 20% through 2030.
