Malaysian operator Maxis officially launched its 5G services on August 15, following the signing of access agreements with the nation's operators by state-owned 5G wholesaler Digital Nasional Berhad.

Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng expressed excitement about bringing 5G plans to customers, emphasizing affordability and adoption so that everyone can benefit from 5G. The operator is offering generous data packages for both 4G and 5G, with monthly plans starting at MYR79 (US$17) and going up to MYR199 (US$42) for up to 200GB of data. Customers who switch to 5G can enjoy bonus data of up to 100GB, unlimited calls and SMS.

Additionally, monthly plans spanning 24 to 36 months with 5G devices will have zero interest. Maxis is also introducing monthly business plans, prepaid options, and its fixed wireless access service called Maxis Home WiFi.
