Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Setara Networks (tara) have launched a zero-fee instant transaction capability to accelerate Indonesia’s digital payment adoption, which is expected to exceed 85% in the next few years.

With one click via tara, Indosat clients can make safe and fast digital transactions from anywhere without additional applications or costs. The partnership is expected to have a positive impact on Indonesia's digital payments and digital transformation.

Sabrina Lee, SVP and head of digital business at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said, “We are excited to announce that with this partnership with tara, Indosat customers will now be able to experience more convenience [in their] digital payments experience without spending any additional fee or the need of downloading any additional app. This is another important collaboration that provides added values for our customers and contributes to accelerating the adoption of digital payments in Indonesia.”

With their zero-fee concept, Indosat and Tara offer a seamless and secure network via the bima+ app and shortly on myIM3. OneClick Checkout technology lets users pay using a one-time Pay-ID connected to their cellphone number, making transactions convenient, safe and frictionless.

Furthermore, this new payment method reduces transaction times to 20 seconds, a significant improvement over traditional bank app logins for virtual account payments. Users will also be rewarded for each transaction through a gamified experience.

“The ease and speed of digital transactions with just one click will be Indosat[‘s] key differentiation from other service provider[s]. We hope our customers will then have a marvelous digital experience with the service, ultimately accelerating Indonesia's digital transformation agenda," noted Ms. Lee.

Setara Networks has partnered with over 40 national, regional and global banks and top merchants to establish a unified payment network and is expected to work with more partners in the coming months.

Commenting on the development, Rajib Saha, co-founder and chief executive officer of Setara Networks Worldwide, the parent company of tara, said, “With the integration of banks and zero admin fee, it will be a win-win situation for everyone. In the coming days, we plan to go live with thousands of merchants at a very low cost, which will boost micro-payments and revolutionize e-commerce in Indonesia, and our users will also be earning rewards on each transaction through a gamified experience.”
