Maxis and Digital Penang have signed an MoU to strengthen Penang's MSME digital and technology ecosystem. The partnership supports the Penang State Government's 2030 goal of becoming family-focused, green and smart.

Digital Penang will assist Maxis and the Creative Digital District Community to connect, help the digital transformation of MSMEs and train and empower entrepreneurs.

“This partnership with Maxis is a milestone in our journey towards transforming Penang into a digital technology hub. The Penang State Government is committed to lifting our communities and ensuring our MSMEs stay competent in this digital age. It is aligned with the Penang2030 vision and the Digital Transformation Master Plan,” said YB Zairil Khir Johari, Penang EXCO for infrastructure, transport and digital development and board director of Digital Penang.

Meanwhile, as the premier integrated solutions provider, Maxis Business will use its digital solutions, 5G mobile and fiber connectivity services to support Penang MSMEs’ digital adoption. Maxis' community program, eKelas Usahawan, will also help business owners upskill or reskill. The free digital marketing initiative gives entrepreneurs and small businesses, especially B40 companies, essential digital tools and skills to boost their digital presence.

Ts. Ng Kwang Ming, chief executive officer of Digital Penang, noted the timeliness of this partnership, saying, “We are working with communities to increase awareness on the value and benefits of digitalisation. This includes MSMEs to increase their online presence and extend their business reach beyond Penang's borders.”

“Maxis is committed to empower Malaysian MSME businesses with digital enablers to participate in the new age digital economy. Our partnership with Digital Penang is a significant milestone that underscores our dedication to fostering MSME growth in Penang, enabling them to thrive in the digital era while remaining competitive,” added Prateek Pashine, Maxis chief enterprise business officer.

Maxis Business is able to provide solutions for the future generation because of its expertise, skill sets and years of experience, which are all reflected in its extensive product portfolio. 5G, mobile, fiber, Internet of Things, cloud, managed services, new workspace solutions and enterprise-grade services are all included in the portfolio. These technologies are supported by Maxis Programmable Network, which is a software-defined network that has MEF 3.0 certification.
