Indonesia has seen some recent developments in the data center industry, with Telkom Indonesia launching a new data center in Banda Aceh on the Island of Sumatra. This facility is part of Telkom's neuCentrIX data center ecosystem, which offers colocation, cloud services, and internet exchange. It is the 18th metro that neuCentrIX has entered and will primarily serve government services and local internet service providers.

In addition, Gaw Capital Partners, a real estate private equity firm, has partnered with Sinar Primera, a leading Indonesian developer, to produce a data center campus in Batam. Gaw Capital will be the primary investor, while Sinar Primera will acquire a minority stake in the property and act as the development manager.

The first phase of the campus, located in Nongsa Digital Park (NDP), is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024. It will be a single-storey building with a capacity of up to 6MW of critical IT load. The partnership aims to create a state-of-the-art data center facility that meets the needs of businesses requiring reliable, scalable, and secure data storage and processing capabilities.

The Nongsa Digital Park (NDP) campus will also strengthen the connection between Singapore and Indonesia, allowing data center operators in Singapore to adopt a nearshoring strategy.
