Comarch has announced a partnership with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation to provide KDDI with a resilient, virtualized network built on 5G standalone (SA) technology.

Together, they are set to revolutionize the network landscape for KDDI, one of the leading telecommunications companies. The focus of this alliance is to deliver a robust and virtualized network, harnessing the cutting-edge capabilities of 5G SA technology. This collaboration signifies a significant leap forward in enhancing network resilience, efficiency, and the overall telecommunications experience for KDDI, showcasing the commitment of these technology innovators to spearheading advancements in the telecom industry.

Improving Core Functionalities

Comarch implemented a comprehensive OSS system to manage all aspects of KDDI's 5G SA core equipment. Functionalities include full control over network elements, as well as planning, monitoring, and service assurance. Comarch's network management offerings include network inventory, planning and design, resource orchestration, and bidirectional network integration. KDDI's monitoring and assurance capabilities have improved, allowing it to quickly identify and resolve any issues.

Comarch's involvement in the project was facilitated in part by its long-standing relationship with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, a key integrator in the region. KDDI has automated failure detection, root cause identification, and recovery method selection in mobile network operations. KDDI has made progress in providing customers with a convenient, secure, and safe communication infrastructure around the clock.

The Road to Future Network Development

KDDI, in collaboration with Comarch and ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, has taken an important step toward the KDDI VISION 2030 strategy, which aims to develop future networks that are fast, reliable, and maintenance-free. KDDI has also promoted operation automation in the 5G SA network.

Due to the strong emphasis placed on digitizing all elements and utilizing network slicing, these 5G SA networks will enable high-speed, low-latency data transmission and reveal entirely new ways of optimization. To maximize the benefits of this new technology, it is critical to use solutions capable of managing xNF (network functions of various types) across multiple domains at once and combining information from a variety of data sources into a unified, coherent depiction of the network. Systems that provide the best experience for future 5G networks must be highly automated and capable of adapting to the rapidly changing 5G SA environment. Comarch's solution is one of the few that meets all these requirements.
