DECIX Indonesia Pratama, in collaboration with DE-CIX, an internet exchange operator, and PT IDMarco Digital Solusi, a subsidiary of the Salim Group, revealed that its DE-CIX Jakarta internet exchange (IX) is now operational and serving customers.

Leveraging the DE-CIX Apollon platform, DE-CIX Jakarta spans two Jakarta-based data centers, NTT’s JKT2 and the Matrix Data Centre JKT2, granting access to 95% of Jakarta’s market. Currently, the initial batch of 10 customers, comprising domestic and international networks, is undergoing the connection process.

Pioneering Robust Interconnection Services

Integrated within the established DE-CIX ASEAN ecosystem, which encompasses seven vital metro markets including Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang, Brunei, and Manila, the IX facilitates seamless internet traffic exchange among networks across the region. This setup ensures streamlined connectivity, top-notch interconnection services catering to both wholesale and enterprise needs, and an economically advantageous method for peering across Southeast Asia.

“Indonesia, with the largest population and the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia, is the next logical step for DE-CIX in Southeast Asia,” said Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX. “As mega hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong are losing some of their relevance due to increasing restrictions in the respective markets, we are now seeing multi-million-dollar investments pouring into markets like Jakarta to serve local needs. Global players are now planning their arrival in the Indonesian market and expect the same quality of interconnection services and latency to end-users as they have in other key markets. At DE-CIX, we are ready to serve the needs of local and international networks to provide the best and most resilient connectivity to clouds, content, and applications for Indonesian people and businesses.”

The IX will establish a direct link to DE-CIX Singapore, integrating DE-CIX Jakarta into its Southeast Asian interconnection network. This integration promises superior interconnection services for network providers, cloud service providers, and enterprises, supported by industry-leading SLAs. DE-CIX Jakarta will merge local and regional interconnection, including cloud exchange functionalities, thereby enhancing the user experience for Indonesian end-users. Additionally, it will offer a comprehensive range of cloud interconnection services tailored specifically for enterprises.

Facilitating Enterprise-Grade Functionality

“The Indonesian economy is anticipated to see enormous growth in the coming years. Our integrated solution supports the ongoing cloudification, transformation of content, and traffic localization in Indonesia, and offers seamless access to clouds and content hosted in Singapore,” according to Thomas Dragono, Director of DE-CIX Indonesia. “With the arrival of DE-CIX Apollon in Jakarta, all networks in the country are invited to take advantage of DE-CIX’s best-in-class platform.”

In addition to peering services facilitating direct network interconnection, the platform boasts state-of-the-art cloud exchange and cloud routing functionalities, along with various enterprise-grade interconnection services. It also features a user-friendly, self-service portal and API for the seamless management and automation of interconnection services. The cloud exchange component offers direct entry points to major cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, IBM, and Oracle.
