Maxis and Singtel have launched Malaysia's first comprehensive platform for 5G network integration, edge computing, cloud services, and orchestration, using Singtel’s Paragon. This platform aims to improve accessibility to 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies and drive digital transformation across sectors like manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and public services.

Available in Malaysia through Maxis Business, the platform offers on-demand edge computing services, including low-latency computing, GPU as a Service (GPUaaS), and storage. Its multi-access edge computing (MEC) capabilities allow for data processing at the edge, enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time processing and intelligent decision-making.

Paragon provides a robust marketplace for Maxis customers and partners, enabling enterprises to effortlessly create network slices and deploy critical 5G applications on MEC.

Advancing National Commercialization

The partnership was officially announced at the Malaysia Commercialisation Year (MCY) Summit 2024—an event hosted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to advance the national commercialization ecosystem. The Summit was graced by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, who served as the Guest of Honour. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Maxis booth by Mr. Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis, and Mr. Manoj Prasanna Kumar, Chief Technology Officer of Singtel Digital InfraCo.

Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis, said, "Our collaboration addresses customer needs by providing a unified 5G platform that simplifies orchestration across network and cloud environments.  The platform enables greater access, speed and flexibility for businesses to deploy and manage 5G and cloud computing solutions seamlessly. This will help them to focus on their core business, further strengthening their competitiveness globally. As the country’s leading integrated telco, we look forward to accelerating 5G-A and 5G adoption and the digitalization of Malaysian businesses as the preferred digital business partner.”

Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer of Singtel Digital InfraCo, noted that there has been a significant increase in demand from enterprises for 5G and edge computing to drive their digital transformation. He highlighted that Singtel has been at the forefront of this trend, forming strategic global partnerships and utilizing Paragon to simplify the adoption and monetization of 5G infrastructure. He expressed satisfaction in partnering with Maxis to enhance and broaden 5G and edge monetization opportunities in Malaysia.

A Unified Architecture

The platform offers a range of enterprise applications across various sectors that demand high-speed data processing, including real-time analytics, mixed reality, and autonomous systems. Hosted and deployed locally in Malaysia, it addresses the cybersecurity and data sovereignty needs of Malaysian businesses.

Paragon-powered platforms have already been successfully launched in four ASEAN markets. Maxis’ exclusive introduction of this capability to Malaysia will facilitate seamless operations for multinational companies, providing a consistent experience and unified architecture throughout the region. This deployment is particularly timely as Malaysia prepares for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, positioning the country to lead in regional economic and digital initiatives.

This partnership underscores Maxis’ dedication to driving innovation and advancing Industry 4.0 transformation with practical applications. Beyond 5G and cloud-native solutions, Maxis is also focused on pioneering next-generation technologies in Malaysia, including AI and generative AI (GenAI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G-Advanced technology.

Singtel Paragon is an all-encompassing solution that allows enterprises to quickly connect with the 5G network and securely deploy edge computing applications on the telco’s infrastructure. This reduces time-to-market and accelerates innovation. Additionally, Paragon lowers the barriers to adopting MEC services, enhancing efficiency and fostering business innovation for enterprises.
