KT announced that they will be implementing a network support system that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) to help with the transition to a new network operating system.

The AI systems being used by KT are AI Meister and AI Operator. AI Meister has been implemented in key network equipment in the wired field and will expand to all network equipment, including wireless, in the future. AI Operator will be used by field employees to manage network equipment at customer contact points. KT plans to enhance AI Operator to handle both wired and wireless tasks.

AI Meister

AI Meister is a generative AI (GenAI) that assists with managing the software within network equipment. This system has four prompt engines that suggest actions, diagnose issues, interpret conditions, and search for technical knowledge. It provides the necessary knowledge for overall network operation through dialogue.

KT explained that AI Meister enables employees who are not familiar with network management to work at an expert level. It also enhances the stability of services by diagnosing a large amount of network-generated information in real-time.

AI Operator

AI Operator is a system that aids in the physical management of network equipment by combining the functions of the mobile task management system (MOSS) and the safety management system (NeMO).

It is designed to efficiently and safely manage customer service on-site by offering AI functions such as system diagnosis and action proposals. The solution will also include a speech-to-text (STT) function to capture the opinions of field employees.

The Future of Networking

Furthermore, KT aims to enhance its network operating system by using AI to monitor network traffic and detect abnormal patterns independently to identify signs of failure, conduct root cause analysis, develop action plans, and automatically implement them.

Oh Taek-kyun, Head, Network Operation Division, KT, stated that KT will lead the future of networking by actively integrating AI into network operations as an AICT (artificial intelligence + information and communication technology) company.
