The information and communications technology (ICT) ministers and government leaders of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are set to meet in the Philippines this February.
The Philippines is set to host the third annual ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN) and the ASEAN Digital Senior Officials Meeting (ADGSOM), as well as related meetings with dialogue partners, on February 6–10, 2023, spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
With the theme “Synergy Towards a Sustainable Digital Future,” the gathering aims to highlight how ASEAN countries can synergize the building of a human-centric approach in the use of ICTs within the region and forge stronger partnerships in addressing key challenges, both present and future, in their respective countries, the region and the world.
The annual conferences will highlight the collaborative efforts of the ASEAN Member States (AMS) in digitally transforming the region under one vision and as one community. The gathering will also serve as a platform to accelerate efforts to enhance every ASEAN citizen’s digital skills and competencies to improve the quality of the workforce as it faces these emerging technologies.
The DICT, headed by Secretary Ivan John Uy, expects a good turnout of delegates for the meeting. This will mark the first time the ADGMIN and ADGSOM leaders, together with the Secretary General of the ASEAN and other partners and country delegates, will be physically attending since the COVID-19 pandemic.
