Scala, Inc. (Scala), based in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, and led by Director, Representative Executive Officer & President, Norikatsu Nagino, Ph.D., along with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (PT Telkom Indonesia), Indonesia's leading state-owned telecommunications company based in Bandung, and led by Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid, are excited to announce a strategic business partnership. This alliance aims to promote innovation and growth in the agricultural sector by combining the strengths of both organizations to tackle important challenges and opportunities in this vital industry.

Given that the global population is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, there is a growing urgency to improve food production, especially in developing countries where 97% of farmers face obstacles due to limited access to resources for production expansion. In response, Scala and PT Telkom Indonesia are collaborating on innovative, technology-driven solutions to transform the agricultural ecosystem.

A Symbiotic Partnership

PT Telkom Indonesia brings its extensive experience in addressing national challenges, along with strong financial capabilities and a wide network in the political and business sectors. Through its dedicated venture—Agree—PT Telkom Indonesia has developed advanced farm management systems and B2B marketplaces, among other innovative solutions.

Scala, on the other hand, has a specialized team operating in Japan, Singapore and Indonesia, which focuses on creating unique partnerships between investors and startups to drive impactful co-creation projects. Scala's initiatives in the agricultural sector, such as developing a credit scoring model for farmers and digital cooperative infrastructures, show great potential to enhance productivity and sustainability.

The partnership aims to strengthen farm management—an emerging agritech initiative that aims to organize farmers and provide advisory services to significantly increase production capacities. By utilizing Agree's B2B marketplace platform, Scala and PT Telkom Indonesia plan to facilitate direct transactions between farm management and the central Indonesian market.

This initiative will use advanced big data analytics to predict demand and streamline the agricultural value chain, setting new standards for efficiency and sustainability.

Norikatsu Nagino, Director, Representative Executive Officer & President of Scala, Inc. stated, "Our partnership with PT Telkom Indonesia marks the start of a transformative journey for agriculture. Together, we are using technology to create sustainable solutions that will empower farmers and ensure food security for future generations."

Meanwhile, Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid, Director of Digital Business at PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Tbk said, "Teaming up with Scala accelerates our mission to drive societal progress through innovation. This collaboration will unlock new opportunities in agriculture, boosting productivity and sustainability."
