ZTE Corporation and China Telecom, Beijing, have successfully completed the world's first live network verification of the 800G 16QAM pluggable module computing power interconnection solution.
The technology is expected to enhance the network transmission capacity for Internet Data Centers (IDCs) which will serve as a foundation for the development of the global computing power internet.
The live network verification spanned several data centers in Beijing and the Hebei province, demonstrating the capabilities of the 800G and 16QAM high-performance module. Moreover, the verification process for the mixed transmission of 400G and 800G has been a success, with the services operating seamlessly.
Solution Capabilities
In today's digital age, the demand for data transmission is growing exponentially. Businesses and individuals alike are constantly generating and consuming vast amounts of data. From streaming services to cloud computing, from IoT devices to high-definition video conferencing, the need for faster and more efficient data transmission is paramount. One of the highlights of this solution is that the transmission rate reaches 800 Gbps, while maintaining a system capacity of up to 64T, which addresses the increasing need for data transmission while offering a compact design that is 50% smaller than fixed modules. This compactness is invaluable, particularly in environments where space is limited, such as data centers and telecommunications facilities.
ZTE's commitment to environmentally sustainable solutions is demonstrated by the 68% decrease in power consumption per gigabit, which can be attributed to its significant size reduction. The design also reduces the occupied footprint which doubles the port density of boards, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the system. The solution's pluggable design easily facilitates fault maintenance.
ZTE plans to prioritize technological innovation as it expands the utilization of wired optical transport networks (OTNs). OTNs offer superior reliability and efficiency compared to traditional networking technologies. They utilize advanced features such as wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and forward error correction (FEC) to ensure data integrity and minimize transmission errors. This reliability is crucial for mission-critical applications where downtime is not an option.
As organizations embrace emerging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and edge computing, the demand for robust and flexible network infrastructure becomes even more critical. OTNs provide the necessary foundation to support these technologies, enabling organizations to harness their full potential and stay ahead of the competition.
The company is dedicated to promoting the integration of optical transmission networks and computing power scenarios, establishing the foundation for the commercial application and advancement of 800G IDC in China Telecom's Beijing Branch, which is expected to affect the global computing power network landscape.
