In a significant milestone, the United Arab Emirates’ leading telecom operator, du, has officially launched the du Innovation Center, maximizing the network’s potential in driving new commercial innovations utilizing next generation technologies.

This initiative aims to set a standard of 5G advanced and next generation technology solution across consumer and enterprise sectors, expanding the large-scale commercial application, and positioning the regionally and globally as leaders in applying the next generation technology in the commercial networks.

Held in Dubai, UAE, the inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures in the industry, including Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du; Karim Benkirane, Chief Commercial Officer of du; and Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer of du, along with other senior management figures.

Emphasizing a customer-centric approach, du aims to deliver unparalleled user experiences, leveraging the advanced capabilities of 5G network to introduce innovative applications that meet the diverse needs of consumers, households, and enterprises by accelerating the UAE’s digital transformation and ushering in a new era of intelligent, connected and AI-powered mobility.

 

Driving Innovation and Commercial Applications

Set to explore commercial opportunities in the 5G Advanced era, the du Innovation Center aims to accelerate the incubation of multi-dimensional experiences incorporated with artificial intelligence (AI), including technological advancements in Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), immersive extended reality (XR), open network capabilities, and business-to-business (B2B) applications.

du plans to leverage the synergy of 5G advanced and AI capabilities in the consumer space by introducing new benefits and services for various user groups and scenarios. This strategic move includes enhanced live-streaming with improved uplink capacity, prioritized speed, performance and low latency gaming, and high-bandwidth solutions for remote work; it will also facilitate specialized services for live concerts and sports events by enhancing the user experience.

Moreover, the Fixed Wireless Network’s continuous upgrades will enable users to experience gigabit-level speeds in the home sector, delivering seamless video streaming and lower-latency online gaming experiences. In the future, users can remotely access the gaming console that is established at home with a high-speed and low-latency experience through a tailored solution with AI capabilities; AI also enables the innovation of business models of game proposition.

Through 5G advanced, Smart Networks and Mobile Private Networks, enterprises will benefit from faster and more reliable dedicated network connections, to support crucial business deployments, including smart manufacturing, remote collaboration, and intelligent logistics.
