A delegation of the Azercosmos Space Agency of Azerbaijan attended the Space Technology Conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, being held from April 24 to 27.

The conference, which is held for the second time in the Eurasia region, brings together national space agencies from Central Eurasia and the international space community.

The event’s agenda includes discussions on the opportunities of the rapidly growing global space industry, satellites and their applications, observations, communication, space innovations and investment in this area.

On the first day of the conference, heads of the Turkic States’ space agencies met for a business meeting to talk about new cooperation opportunities in the space field, ways of developing collaboration towards a common goal of peace in space and new space technologies and applications. This was their second      meeting, following the first one in 2021 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Samaddin Asadov, chairman of the board of Azercosmos, dedicated his speech to “regional cooperation, international investment and sustainable development of the space industry.”

In his speech, Mr. Asadov highlighted the importance of the space field for Azerbaijan and the activity of Azercosmos in the space area within the last 10 years, including projects and cooperation with organizations and institutions from Europe, Africa and Central Asia.

STC 2023 will continue with panel discussions, where discussions will take place regarding the regional and international market trends of the space industry, the role of geographic information systems in digital transformation, and the possibilities of satellites in the sustainable socio-economic development of countries.
