Nokia has strengthened its position in the global internet exchange (IX) market by securing three new contracts with IX providers ESpanix, BBIX, and LINX.

This development comes in response to the increasing demands on cloud networking due to advancements in AI and edge computing, which require greater scale, improved performance, and unmatched reliability.

Three IX Deals

ESpanix, a busy internet exchange point (IXP) in Southern Europe, has selected Nokia to implement Spain's first 400G IXP network. This upgrade aims to reduce energy consumption, operational costs, and complexity, providing a more efficient and sustainable solution compared to bundling multiple 100GE connections. It also optimizes bandwidth for ESpanix and its customers, supporting its expansion into new locations.

In Tokyo, BBIX has selected Nokia to upgrade its network to 400GE, enhancing bandwidth and operational efficiency. This upgrade will improve the stability, flexibility, and reliability of BBIX's network operations, leading to better services for its customers.

LINX, the London internet exchange, has partnered with Nokia to enhance its network protection capabilities against current and future DDoS threats and attacks. Utilizing Nokia Deepfield DDoS security, LINX becomes the first UK-based IX provider to offer advanced DDoS protection with trusted performance, scale, and mitigation granularity, ensuring minimal impact on member connectivity and services.
