India's Tata Play Fiber and Nokia have recently formed a partnership to emphasize the growing importance of fiber connectivity in India. Tata Play Fiber, a subsidiary of DTH satellite company Tata Play, is constructing a nationwide fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband infrastructure.

Combatting the Demand for High-capacity Broadband Connections

The collaboration aims to launch India's first Wi-Fi 6-ready broadband network to meet the increasing demand for high-capacity broadband connections in both residential and enterprise areas. Under the agreement, Nokia will supply Tata Play Fiber with a range of FTTH and Wi-Fi equipment to support the expansion of its broadband network across India. This includes state-of-the-art optical line terminal (OLT), optical network terminal (ONT) with Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi mesh Beacons.

Nokia's solution is user-friendly, allowing for easy installation, and it's designed to support applications that require low latency, such as gaming. It provides fast gigabit speeds to multiple devices connected to the Wi-Fi network. Additionally, it enhances network security by supporting the Wi-Fi Alliance-endorsed WPA3 standard.

Nokia’s Use of Mesh Technology and AI/ML software

One notable feature of the Nokia solution is its mesh technology, which ensures seamless coverage for large customer premises and areas with obstacles such as concrete walls.

This Wi-Fi 6 mesh technology is particularly suitable for residential homes with spacious layouts or multiple floors, as well as small office/home office (SOHO) enterprises, which represent a significant market in India.

Furthermore, the Nokia solution incorporates AI/ML software to identify traffic patterns, faults, and potential outages in the GPON network, optimizing the end user experience. This advanced technology will contribute to the overall efficiency and reliability of the broadband network.

Overall, the partnership between Tata Play Fiber and Nokia highlights the increasing significance of fiber connectivity across India. By leveraging Nokia's expertise and advanced equipment, Tata Play Fiber aims to provide high-quality broadband services to meet the growing demand in the country.
