In the first quarter of 2024, Globe Telecom, a mobile operator based in the Philippines, expanded its network by building 116 new cell sites and upgrading 812 mobile sites to LTE. Additionally, the company rolled out over 19,544 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines in the same period.

This strategic move aims to make the most of the company's existing fiber inventory while reducing capital expenditures (CapEx). By utilizing its current fiber resources, Globe plans to reach the underserved prepaid fiber market in the Philippines, providing more people with access to reliable and high-quality broadband services.

Joel Agustin, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Engineering at Globe Telecom, expressed the company's commitment to enhancing its network infrastructure to deliver the best broadband experience to subscribers. He emphasized that Nokia's new BNG solution enables the integration of both wireline and wireless access technologies into a single, flexible gateway, significantly improving efficiency.
