Chief Telecom (CHIEF), the operator of Taiwan's largest internet exchange, TPIX, and the world's leading internet exchange, AMS-IX; along with HGC Global Communications Limited (HGC), a comprehensive ICT service provider and network operator with extensive global coverage, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to offer a complete business solution to their customers.
This agreement allows for seamless traffic exchange between the Taipei Internet Exchange and AMS-IX Hong Kong, providing customers with a one-stop solution to expand their internet network resources using the global connectivity network.
AMS-IX, located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is one of the largest internet exchanges globally with nearly a thousand members. HGC is a well-known telecom operator in Asia and a partner of AMS-IX in the region.

Globalized Connectivity
Through this partnership, TPIX members can enhance their network resources, facilitate content sharing and ensure localization not only in Hong Kong but also across HGC's global network with diverse routes and digital infrastructure. This connectivity enables them to reach other AMS-IX exchanges in Asia, such as those available in Singapore, Bangkok, and Manila, as well as globally in Amsterdam, the Bay Area, and Chicago, thus, improving end-user experiences.
Mr. Joseph Wu, Chairman of Chief Telecom, expressed excitement about joining the global community of internet exchanges and leveraging each other's local customers and peering members to create a synergistic effect. He aims for CHIEF to become the digital convergence hub of East Asia and an AI cloud application center, connecting Taiwan with the world.
Conversely, AMS-IX Hong Kong members can access an additional 170 network connections and tap into the local user base in Taiwan through TPIX. This expanded connectivity and access to a new audience will increase traffic exchange for both AMS-IX Hong Kong and TPIX members, benefiting both parties and contributing to the growth of cross-border peering.
