Bharti Airtel has become the first telecom operator to establish 5G connectivity along the newly launched North-South Corridor of the Pune Metro.

This corridor stretches 17.4 kilometers, connecting PCMC to Swargate and encompasses new stations such as Shivaji Nagar, District Court, Kasba Peth, and Mandai.

To enhance its network capabilities, Airtel has upgraded numerous sites along this route and installed dedicated in-building solutions at metro stations, ensuring consistent coverage throughout the 6 km underground section. This infrastructure aims to deliver high-speed data and voice services for commuters across the metro line.

George Mathen, CEO of Bharti Airtel for Maharashtra and Goa, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering top-notch service in Pune. He highlighted that Airtel has implemented additional nodes and sites along the new metro route, enabling commuters to enjoy high-speed mobile internet. Mathen reiterated the company's dedication to ensuring reliable network connectivity, which he believes is essential for all customers​.

With the latest expansion, the Pune Metro now extends a total of 33 kilometers across the city, featuring over 30 stations. Notably, Airtel stands out as the sole operator ensuring connectivity throughout the entire metro route.​
